How do I get price information?You need to contact enquiries@ttp.com. There is a list price for all Meteor components but everyone’s needs are different and there may be value we can identify for you that isn’t immediately apparent or a service we can offer that will make your project much more of a success. So we would like to talk with you.
How do I get more technical information?Meteor is in use in many types of printers and print systems Worldwide and we believe that it is adequate to almost any industrial task if we have opportunity to talk with you about what you want to do. So please contact us on enquiries@ttp.com.
Which printheads does Meteor support?Meteor is currently used on print systems that use the following printheads:
- FujiFilm Dimatix Spectra Galaxy, Nova, S-class, Q-class Sapphire, Polaris
- Xaar 318 (Leopard), CA4, 1001, 500
- ToshibaTec CA3, CA4, CE2, CF1
- Kyocera KJ4 (KJ4A and KJ4B supported
Meteor is designed to support all typical industrial printheads and has even been used for linear arrays of laser diodes and thermal printheads. We will be happy to provide you with a quote for leadtime and price for any printhead you are considering using.
What is your charging structure for Meteor?We charge for the supply of Meteor hardware and we make a once-off charge for access to Meteor software. There is also an optional annual maintenance charge for the software. Any ancillary integration or product development service offered separately is charged on a hard-estimate basis.
Does Meteor include a printer driver?Contact us on enquiries@ttp.com for information about our Windows printer driver.
Can you supply an inkjet print engine?We supply Meteor components which you can use to build a print engine. If you wish us to integrate and build a print engine for you then we can provide you with a costed project plan to do this. This can be particularly useful to save time, reduce integration risk, or if the project is a unique and once-off event.
Can Meteor drive Konica Minolta print heads?Yes. If Konica Minolta approve you as a customer of their printheads then we are able to supply you with drivers for KM printheads. At the time of updating this webpage we have no existing customers using KM heads so there may be a lead time delay while we set up manufacture for the head driver card that interfaces to the head. We do not use the KM ICB.
Can Meteor drive Spectra print heads?Yes. Spectra heads are supplied by FujiFilm Dimatix. We have customers using Galaxy, Nova and S-class heads and we can supply components to you from stock. A Meteor system never requires a Spectra Head Interface Board (HIB) as Meteor connects directly to the jetting assemblies. In some circumstances we can resell Dimatix components to you bundled with Meteor components, which may help you if you are new customer eager to get an eval kit running.
We can also support the Q-class Sapphire and Polaris head types in full grey-scale VersaDrop mode.
Can Meteor drive Dimatix print heads?Yes. We have customers using Galaxy, Nova, S-class, Q-class and Polaris heads and we can supply components to you from stock. In some circumstances we can resell Dimatix components to you bundled with Meteor components, which may help you if you are new customer eager to get an evaluation kit running.
Can Meteor drive Xaar print heads?Yes. We have customers using Xaar 500, Xaar 318 (Leopard), CA4, CE2 and 1001 heads and we can supply components to you from stock. In some circumstances we can resell Xaar components to you bundled with Meteor components, which may help you if you are new customer eager to get an eval kit running. A Meteor system never requires a Xaar Head Personality Card (HPC) as Meteor connects directly to the printhead.
Can Meteor drive Epson print heads?Epson prefer to work with selected partners only. If you are a selected partner then we will be happy to discuss the provision of Meteor drivers for your selected Epson printhead. Please contact us.
Can Meteor drive Trident print heads?Yes. However, at the time of updating this webpage we have no existing customers using Trident heads so there may be a lead time delay while we set up manufacture for the head driver card that interfaces to the head. Can Meteor drive thermal inkjet (TIJ) print heads such as HP 45?Yes, subject to permission from the TIJ technology supplier. As we have no existing customers using TIJ heads (HP, Lexmark etc) there may be a lead time delay while we liaise with the head supplier and set up manufacture for the head driver card that interfaces to the head. What lead time availability is there on Meteor components?For components held in stock the lead time is typically 2 weeks.
Can you supply printheads?We have arrangements for bundling heads with Meteor drive hardware with some industrial printhead suppliers but not all. Contact us for details. Generally you will only obtain a warrenty on the printhead if you deal directly with the printhead supplier. However, in some cases, dealing with TTP can be quicker for accessing your first printhead than applying to be a new customer of a major printhead supplier.
Can you supply ink?We have no plans to supply ink but we may be able to source a sample volume to test an Evaluation kit. Contact us for details.

Can Meteor support different print head types in one printer?Yes. Several customers already do this with Meteor.
Do you use Ethernet to connect the heads?We use standard cat 5 Ethernet cables, but the signals are not Ethernet, for example we supply power to the head driver cards as well as data signals within the Ethernet cable
Is USB2.0 fast enough for my system?In every situation we have considered USB2.0 is fast enough. Whilst it is tricky for the novice developer to establish reliable communications at high speed using USB, Meteor has been developed, tested and is used at speeds of 40 MBytes/sec continuous from one USB connection and 80 MBytes/sec continous from two USB host connections. Meteor can therefore be used in a FIFO (first-in first-out) continuous data mode for systems with a great many heads. Meteor is also used in enormous print systems by using either a pre-load data mode (the images are transferred before printing from the PC to the Meteor electronics and held there for multiple use) or a mixed data mode in which background images are pre-loaded and variable data is superimposed at the time of printing each document.

What driving voltage does Meteor use?Meteor Head Driver Cards provide the specified head drive voltages for each printhead type. In the case of Dimatix Spectra printheads the actual drive pulse shape created is digitally defined by Meteor giving greater control over drop quality than is achievable using RC drive circuitry.
Can I use Meteor with my own drop visualisation system?Yes, using the Drop Tuner kit.
Can I use Meteor with my Dropwatcher drop visualisation system?Yes, using the Drop Tuner kit.
Can I use Meteor with my JetXpert drop visualisation system?Yes, we do, using the Drop Tuner kit. The combined product is known as the 'JetXpert Plus'.
